Reading a concrete bid without getting lost
A concrete bid should make scope, exclusions, and site assumptions visible.
A concrete bid should tell you what is included: demolition, disposal, base prep, thickness, reinforcement, finish, joints, cleanup, and when the surface can be used. If the bid only names a project and a price, ask what assumptions are inside that number.
Look for the site variables. Access can change labor. Drainage can change grading. Old concrete can change disposal. A decorative finish can change timing and maintenance. A driveway apron or public walk can involve municipal rules. A garage slab or light commercial pad can require load and use details.
The lowest number is not automatically the clearest bid. The better bid is the one you can understand, compare, and hold against the actual scope. Before asking for a final number, send the details that make the number real.
